About Us
Connected by our Tamil language, keeping Jesus at the centre
Our Story
Our community began in 2025, when a few Tamil Catholic families across Greater Vancouver realized how much they missed praying and singing in their own language. We come from both Sri Lanka and India, settled now in places like Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, Surrey, Delta, and Langley - different hometowns, one shared faith.
It started simply: a few families, a desire to worship in Tamil, and participate in Mass. Word spread the way it usually does, one family mentioning it to another after church, and we've grown to about 30+ families now.
We're still young as a community, and that's part of the joy of it. Most of us came to Canada with our faith already deep in us, and being able to gather in Tamil makes this corner of BC feel a little more like home. What began as a Sunday Mass is becoming something bigger - a second family here, a place to celebrate feast days, mark life's milestones, and raise our children knowing exactly where they come from.
Our Vision
We want every Tamil Catholic family in Greater Vancouver to have a spiritual home here. A place where our children grow up knowing both their faith and their Tamil roots, and where families new to Canada find people who understand exactly what they've left behind. As we grow, we want to stay close to one another and pass on to the next generation everything that was passed on to us.
Our Mission
We come together to:
- Celebrate Mass and the sacraments in Tamil
- Help our children learn the faith and keep up their Tamil language
- Keep our feast days and traditions alive, and stay connected as one community
